I've finally found a charcoal RX8 R3 09 with 100k for only 11k!!!!!! And this sucks for me!!!
My heart really REALLY wants the RX8 R3 but my brain says that it will cost me more in the long run gas wise, insurance wise and maintenance wise. + It will still depreciate badly and it will turn my NA into a winter beater.
My brain wants a CR-Z for the fuel efficiency, the fact that it's a manual hybrid, the fact that insurance will cost even less because it's an hybrid, it comes with winter tires and it's a Honda, it will cost almost nothing maintenance wise and it will keep it's value...somewhat (hybrids are the exceptions). It's better equiped than the RX8 too. But my heart doesn't get the same awesome feeling that the RX8 gives me and the goddamn grey panels and seats ruins it for me.
I'm gonna see the RX8 today. I just hope that I don't like it like I liked the one I tried earlier on. So the battle is between the charcoal RX8 and a pearl white CRZ for 11k.

CRZs are hot when lowered on nice wheels. Never really seen an RX8 I liked.

If it's a daily I'd go CRZ. I just couldn't trust an RX8 day to day and as you mentioned they sure have a taste for oil and petrol.

It kinda looks huge tho. It's really different face to face.

Go for the RX-8. Car-buying decisions are not made with the mind, but with the heart. Mark my words, that thing will brighten your mood many a gloomy day.

And engines. The one mentioned is about 100,000 miles which is pushing it for an RX8.

It does, this surprised me a lot. Looks bigger than a Civic actually.

Then you have your answer. You really do prefer rotaries.

Yes! The sound, the smoothness, the feel it gives. It's amazing...but I feel that I should wait.

It depends on how critical the money is. Right now I know I know I'd be happier with an E39 M5 or X350 XJR but I choose something with less maintenance costs (apart from tires). If you're confident the money is going to be okay I'd go for the joy.

Well I'm probably gonna get a new job soon. It won't be as secured as my current job but it pays the double! I could own the 8...but I got a lot more mileage to do soon. Yeah...might be best to get the CRZ. I can get the 8 anytime and it's gonna end up cheaper.

Every speed-loving bone in my body aches at this result... but dude, get the Honda. The later RX-8's were improved for the oil consumption issues... but the Wankel still has a bad drinking habit and it reportedly only gets worse with age.

Almost always worth looking around more. There might be other choices out there as well. I'm not particularly enamored of the CR-Z myself.

For the price, it's great. I found nothing else interesting for under 15k that is 2011+ except a Fiat 500 Turbo 2013 or sport 2012.

You gotta pay to play.
It's something all of us do. We all make sacrifices for the cars we love and want to own. Owning a sports car or a car with sporty intention isn't a risk free game, there's a million variables that go with it.

I feel like you can look a bit farther back on non enthusiast stuff too for the right mileage total. My current car was 6 years old but only 40,000 miles.

The issue is financing. I'm trying to pay less that I pay for my NC right now. I'm losing by doing this but this is for the better. I need something that I can finance for 5 yrs and I'm good.

Life plan: Get CR-Z, pay it off. Get RX-8 R3 as second car after for it goes under 8k.

I think you'd be better off with the Honda. You already have a fun car, and between the RX and the Honda, the CRZ will be cheaper to run, more reliable and sell for more when you're finished. Also, you avoid the temptations of going full retard and dumping a load of money into it, since there is not as much aftermarket as the Mazda

Imagine me...I was like an extatic kid who just got some candy when I saw it last night lol. Realisticly...it's not a wise decision.

The only thing I'd do is put a CAI, put comfy bucket seats (no cheap shit), vinyl wrap the grey panels and put better brakes. I'd call it a day after that.

I have daily driven an RX-8 for the past 5 years. In August it was "relegated" to track/autocross only duty when I purchased a Fiesta ST.. Let's just say I find myself driving the 8 more than the FiST. Nothing really compares to the driving dynamics of an RX-8/NC for the price. Torque is overrated.
Having driven a friend's CR-Z, my advice is to stay away if you actually enjoy driving.

I gotta make a smart move there. I love the 8 but I'm sure I'll get a cheaper R3 down the line.
